Digboi & Margherita ~ Awesome Assam

Day 1 ~ Dibrugarh and Tinsukia

Arrive at Dibrugarh Airport. On arrival you will be received by our representative at the airport offering a warm welcome in traditional Assamese style. From the Airport drive to the Dibru Saikhowa National Park. Check into the Eco Resort near the Dibru Saikhowa National Park. In the evening we will visit the Heritage Railway Park and Museum at Tinsukia. This park illustrates the history of the Dibru Sadiya Railway established by the British Empire and is one of the oldest in India.

Day 2 ~ Dibru-Saikhowa National Park

Early morning we will take a tour of the National Park of Dibru Saikhowa aboard a River Cruise. Breakfast/Lunch will be served aboard the River Cruise. Evening visit the Tilinga Mandir (Bell Temple) at Tinsukia where it is believed that your wishes are granted true once you tie a bell at the Temple Premises.

Day 3 ~ Dhola and Digboi

After breakfast we will visit the Dhola Ghat and witness the longest Bridge in India ~ the ‘Dhola-Sadiya’ Bridge on the mighty Brahmaputra River. Later drive to the Legendary oil town of Digboi. At Digboi visit the World War Cemetery II at Digboi (built and maintained by the commonwealth War Graves Mission that has burials of over 200 British Soldiers) and visit Digboi Oil town – ‘Home to the oldest operational oil well in the World’ and Asia’s first Oil Refinery.

Day 4 ~ Digboi and Margherita

After breakfast we will visit the Centenary Oil Museum at Digboi. This museum illustrates in details the history of Oil Industry in India. Later we will visit the Digboi Golf Course which is one of the finest golf courses in India! Savour traditional cuisine of the Singpho Tribes at the Singpho Villa Restaurant in Baragolai. Afternoon visit India’s only Coal Museum at Margherita. The Coal museum has many artifacts of the Burma Campaign of World War II. Also visit the remains of the Asia’s oldest plywood factory at Margherita established by the AR&T Company and visit the remains of the finest Military Hospitals of the American Army – the 20th General hospital at Margherita.

Day 5 ~ Ledo, Tipong Colliery and Margherita

Our day begins at the Namdang Bibi Majhar. From here we depart to the Butterfly and Orchid Park at Tikak Colliery. Later we will visit the Historic Ledo Airstrip of World War II and also visit the International Meditation Center at the Mounglang Khamti Buddhist Monestary of Bhante Baba’s Fame. Depart to Tipong Colliery to experience underground coal mining here. On the way tread along the Historic STILWELL ROAD and visit the Historic Lekhapani Railway Station. At Tipong, click your pictures with the oldest operational steam locomotives of the likes of DAVID and 796 here. Visit the Sumi Naga Tribes at the Lalpahar Sumi Village at Tipong Colliery. Evening visit the Ledo Club which served as the office of the first Governor General of Independant India ~ Lord Mountbatten.

Day 6 ~ Dibrugarh Airport

Early morning visit the Buddhist Monastery near the Eco Lodge and after breakfast we will enjoy a short trek across the nearby tea gardens. Later you will depart to Dibrugarh Airport for your onward destination. Trip Ends. Bid Adieu.
